I introduced my grandson to the fun needlecraft of plastic canvas. He had a great time learning how to stitch and made a couple of nice coasters, a bookmark and a toucan. I’m so proud of him. He really did a great job for his first time of doing needlework.

I made a tote bag and put some sheets of plastic canvas and supplies in it for my grandson to take home.
The bag turned out quite well even though I didn’t have a pattern. I just cut it out and sewed it up. lol He liked it and was happy that it was the right size to hold the sheets of plastic canvas and the other supplies too.
I made a set of coasters and a coaster box to hold them. It’s been decades since I last did plastic canvas needlecraft. I forgot how much I enjoy it. I don’t have a big variety of colors of yarn, but they were more than sufficient.

The best part of making these was the time I spent with my grandson. I’m so happy that he still enjoys crafting with me. He makes crafting so much more special. He’s a true treasure.

Sounds like a fun time for both of you. That little tote bag reminds me of one I made for Marshall to take his little Matchbox cars and truck to church. He “drove” them along the cushions on the pews every Sunday….
Thanks Dianna
I bet Marshall was happy have the little tote bag of his cars with him. I think the little-ones needs their toys in Church to keep them occupied until they get old enough to follow what’s going on.
A little Grandma time! Excellent. I am not crafty and have never heard of plastic canvas needlecraft. His toucan in very cute and colorful! I do however love to knit and haven’t done it since my Mom died in 1987. I would love to get myself knitting again because I find it very relaxing. I need a refresher course from my sis-in-law
Nice to see you E.C.!
Thanks Pix
I knit a little, I prefer crochet though, it seems faster for me. I’m sad to hear about your Mom.
I hope you’ll try knitting again sometime, I’m sure you could pick it up easier than you think.
Hi,
Very nice work indeed by your Grandson they look great.
Thanks Mags
Oh, I remember doing this craft when I was young. Its great that you can share crafting with your grandson.
Thanks NN
Aw, will you be my Grandma? Pretty please? Margie
lol Margie, Thanks for the smile.
What a special treat for your grandson, to be able to work with you. He’ll remember this special time too. Your coasters are such pretty useful items! I bought a booklet of instructions once but have never tried it. Maybe? Someday?
Thanks Charlotte
I try to teach my grandson new crafts along with the regular ones we do. I’m so thankful he enjoys crafting as much as I do. I hope he remembers these special times too.
You ought to give plastic canvas a try. After you get into it, it’s relaxing and quite enjoyable.
What a nice way to introduce craftng to your grandson. I’m sure he’ll remember that forever.
Thanks Renee
I love the coasters – what a great craft idea to do with chilrden! Your grandson is so clever. I can’t wait until my little granddaughter is old enough to make things with me. You are right though. It is wonderful to spend time with them. It’s special. Last week I was with my granddaughter she is just 10 months old. We spent hours tearing up tissue paper and putting it in a pot (after she got the idea it was not to go in her mouth) Her concentration levels amazed me and I imediately thought of you and your craft ideas. I suppose the next thing would be to make pictures from the torn tissue.
Thanks Pip
Your granddaughter sounds adorable. I love the game of tearing tissue paper and putting it in a pot. It’ll help her motor skills and what a delightful fun memory for you to tell her about when she gets older. Sweet!
Those are cute coasters. I like crafting with my grandkids, too. I’ve never used the plastic canvas.
Hi Patti
Crafting with grandkids is the greatest fun. I hope you’ll try plastic canvas. You can make so many things out of it to use or decorate with and give as gifts.
