Here’s a photo of how my squares are looking for my new crocheted blanket. I was hoping to be further along by now and have many more squares crocheted, but I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made so far.
Earlier this month, on my ‘How to Coffee Dye Fabric’ post a commenter mentioned that they’d ‘be interested to see if the color holds up after a lot of washing.‘
Well, I can’t answer as to the lots of washing, but I did wash the quilt the other day. I washed it just like I wash most anything. I didn’t take any precautions. If the coffee dyed color faded any, I can’t tell it.
I was real surprised and quite pleased.
The above photo is a a crop of a photo of the square of the freshly laundered quilt.
November 26, 2012, I decided to try to grow an avocado plant from seed. I had a couple yucky avocados that I discovered were bad when I bought them. I’d never bought avocados before and I didn’t know what I was looking for. I won’t be buying anymore. lol Anyhow, It’s been 8 weeks and the seeds haven’t cracked open nor popped a root out. It would have been nice if at least one of the seeds would’ve made an effort to grow. Oh well can win them all… sooo I’m giving up.
Not to worry, I’ve got lots of other seeds to plant pretty soon that will probably fair quite well and grow flowers and tasty veggies.
There’s an icy weather front moving across our region.I hope it passes quickly and melts off twice as fast. Hopefully, it won’t effect the electric & dsl and I’ll still be able to visit with you all, but if not then I’ll be around as soon as I can get back online.
I hope you all have a lovely rest of the week.
Your crocheted blanket is going to be so pretty. I love the colors you are using. Hope the bad weather leaves you alone.
Thanks Patti
I really like these colors: They’re the basic colors in red heart yarn Watercolor, that the variegated thread I used on the blocks to the right.
I’m hoping the bad weather let’s us alone too.
Love, love your squares! I’m working on single crochet squares which are going to make a HEAVY something or other.
The wind has made our day miserably cold and the clouds look like snow clouds to me!
Thank you Charlotte
Oh I bet your crochet project is going to be warm and nice to snuggle under. I hope you’ll post a photo of it sometime.
I hope the snow melts quickly and I pray you’ll get some much needed rain.
We tried that with the avocado, no luck! We have ice forecasted for tonight but only a trace. Sunday 60% on ice. You stay safe. I want some moisture but no ice thanks!
Hey Pix
I hope you all made through the ice okay. We were fortunate and got only rain.
It’s something how some folks can start plants like that so easily. Oh well, at we tried. Right.
I also LOVE the colors for your afghan – so pretty! Hopefully you won’t lose electricity with the ice storm; those storms are always scary. They’re predicting an inch or two of snow for us tomorrow night. We’ll see: that can go either way.
Hey Dianna,
We were lucky and only got rain. I hope you all made it through this system without too much snow and mess.
Thanks for the compliment on my colors. I decided to make it the colors of the variegated red heart yarn called watercolors. I think they’re lovely too.
I love the colors for your blanket. It seems to be going along rather quickly. I hope the ice storm misses you.
Thanks Judy
The colors of my blanket are the individual colors of a variegated red heart yarn called watercolors. I still have a ways to go on it. We were lucky the ice storm missed us and we got only rain.

Well aren’t you sweet Dion
Thanks so much. I’m flattered and very honored you nominated me. I’m tempted to accept the award, but I think I’ll pass.
If I could, I’d give the award to you for having such a helpful informative blog.
I really do appreciate your thinking of me. Thanks again.
I forgot to say in my other comment that I invite your to submit something about your blog or a photo of something you created for my Spotlight page
Thanks so much Judy. I’d like that.
I’ll give it some thought.
Good to see that the coffee dye stood up well to it’s first wash. Looks promising.
I also like your crochet squares…looking good!!!
Hi KD
Your other comment had me wondering how well the coffee dyed block would hold up. I’m quite pleased with it. I washed it with my normal detergent in a heavy duty cycle. I didn’t take any precautions.
I’m glad you like my crochet squares. They’re coming along quite well, I think. I look forward to getting them all finished and crocheted together.
Thanks so much.
I love the shades in these squares – the finished article will be very beautiful
Thanks Mbt
These are some of my favorite colors of the crocheted items I’ve made recently.
I’ve took a break from this blanket for awhile. I plan on finishing it and posting an update when I do.
I’ll look forward to seeing it
